Analysis of RP, R and RC thread standards for stainless steel pipes

In industrial piping systems, threaded connections are a crucial technical aspect for ensuring sealing and stability. For DINSEN stainless steel pipes, a correct understanding of the differences between the three thread standards—RP, R, and RC—helps engineers and purchasing personnel make more accurate choices, ensuring safe and reliable system operation.

    1. RP represents a cylindrical internal thread, a parallel thread standard. The main characteristic of RP threads is their cylindrical, non-tapered tooth profile. They are typically used with corresponding external threads and are suitable for low- or medium-pressure systems. In DINSEN stainless steel pipe products, RP threads are often used in applications requiring a flat seal or gasket-assisted seal.
    2. R represents a tapered external thread, a tapered thread standard. R threads have a tapered tooth profile, typically with a 1:16 taper. This design allows the thread to generate radial pressure during tightening, achieving a metal-to-metal seal. DINSEN stainless steel pipes use precision-machined R threads to ensure a reliable sealing connection when mated with internal threads.
    3. RC represents a tapered internal thread, corresponding to the R thread, and also has a 1:16 taper. RC threads are designed to mate with R external threads to form a taper-to-taper sealing connection.

This combination is widely used in stainless steel piping systems, especially suitable for medium- and high-pressure fluid transport systems.

Industry Application Cases:

In food processing equipment, DINSEN stainless steel pipes use RP thread connections for easy disassembly and cleaning while ensuring hygiene standards. The corrosion resistance of stainless steel avoids the risk of product contamination.

Chemical companies widely use R/RC thread connections on DINSEN stainless steel pipes. The taper design ensures that hazardous media do not leak, and the stainless steel material resists various chemical corrosions.

Pipelining systems in the energy sector rely on high-quality DINSEN stainless steel pipes. R/RC threads provide a reliable sealing solution, ensuring safe and efficient energy transport.
